Men's Backpacking Sierra Trip
Men's Backpacking Sierra Trip
Arrive at Saddlebag Lake Campground. If the campground is closed or full, the first group to arrive needs to message the rest via this WhatsApp group and find an alternate site. Whoever arrives first, grab an area with space for 4-6 tents and 4 cars.
Morning: Have a casual breakfast and early morning fishing at camp (based on how late people get in, there may be a range of when folks wake up).
Mid-morning: Short drive to the trailhead and target, starting our hike around 9am.
Noon Lunch: Arrive at the first lake, set up base camp and eat lunch. Do the 1st Bible Reading as a group.
Afternoon: Explore the area!.
5pm Dinner: Have dinner, with the goal of eating and cleaning up prior to it getting dark (as not to tempt the bears too much). We’ll do the 2nd and 3rd readings over dinner.
8pm or so: Evening devotion/discussion.
Sunrise: this is the best time to fish - hit the lakes at first light!
Breakfast: We’ll do the first reading together over breakfast.
Morning: Break out for fishing, hiking the 20-lake loop, scrambling North Peak, rock climbing, etc.
Noon Lunch: Unless your chosen activity will take all day, let’s try to all regroup for lunch at camp, where we’ll eat together and do the second reading.
Afternoon: More of what happened in the morning!
5pm Dinner: Back at camp, we’ll eat and do the third reading.
8pm or so: Evening devotion/discussion.
