The trail follows Indian River up a wide valley.  It meanders through the forests across gentle terrain.  About half mile from the trailhead it skirts a muskeg.  The views of the surrounding mountains from this this muskeg are magnificent.  Deer, birds and other small animals are frequently seen on this trail.

Hike distance:

9 miles roundtrip

Trail tread:

Boardwalk, natural surface (some muddy spots), and some steps

Time:

6 hours

What to bring:

Comfortable footwear with non slip tread. On a dry day you can do this hike in your Nikes, when it’s wet, hiking boots would be better. Bring your camera and binoculars if you have them. A light lunch and some snacks are a good idea.  We supply “True” Alaska bottled water. We also carry a supply of extra daypacks if you need to borrow one and “emergency” ponchos for unexpected liquid sunshine events.
